Tripoli - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) launched the Migrant Resource and Response Mechanism Centre in Tripoli on 8 March 2020, as part of its efforts to support vulnerable migrants in Libya.
The MRRM Centre in Hay Andalous will act as a central hub to offer a wide range of IOM services and needs-based assistance to vulnerable migrants, including health and psychosocial support, and needed humanitarian items.
The opening ceremony in IOM‘s Tripoli office was attended by representatives from donor countries and embassies, the Government of Libya, and local partners.
“Through this MRRM centre, IOM aims to strengthen its systematic approach to mitigate the difficulties migrants experience in Libya and reduce their suffering during their migration," said Rabih Sarieddine, MRRM Project Officer.
Over 100 migrant women from more than 10 nationalities presented their artworks, traditional performance and music, mirroring their identity and cultural diversity of migrant communities.
“This event was not only an occasion to celebrate International Women’s Day,” said Samia, a representative of the Sudanese community.
“It was also an opportunity to promote social cohesion, and a refreshing space for the migrants and attendees to escape the stress and struggles they always face.”
After participating in numerous cultural activities during the day, the migrants were provided with a tour of the MRRM Centre and introduced to different types of assistance provided by IOM.
Other migrants attended an awareness session presented by the MRRM team as part of the #InformedMigrant campaign, highlighting the risks that migrants may endure during their migration journeys.
Hand Made, a local NGO founded by women for women, participated in the event by presenting traditional attire and celebratory food and drinks; all made by small businesses run by Libyan women.
The MRRM Project in Tripoli aims at providing immediate resources and assistance to all migrants based in urban settings.
طرابلس - أطلقت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة مركز آلية الموارد والاستجابة للمهاجرين في طرابلس في 8 مارس 2020، كجزء من جهودها لدعم المهاجرين المستضعفين في ليبيا.
وسيعمل مركز إدارة الموارد البشرية في حي الأندلس كمركز رئيسي لتقديم مجموعة واسعة من خدمات المنظمة الدولية للهجرة والمساعدة القائمة على الاحتياجات للمهاجرين الضعفاء، بما في ذلك الدعم الصحي والنفسي والاجتماعي، والمواد الإنسانية اللازمة.
وحضر حفل الافتتاح في مكتب المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في طرابلس ممثلون عن البلدان المانحة والسفارات وحكومة ليبيا وشركاء محليون.
وقال ربيع سري الدين، مسؤول مشروع MRRM: "تهدف المنظمة الدولية للهجرة من خلال مركز MRRM إلى تعزيز منهجها للتخفيف من الصعوبات التي يواجهها المهاجرون في ليبيا والحد من معاناتهم أثناء هجرتهم.
قدّمت أكثر من 100 امرأة مهاجرة من أكثر من 10 جنسيات أعمالهن الفنية وعروضهن التقليدية وموسيقاهن، مما يعكس هويتهن وتنوعهن الثقافي في مجتمعات المهاجرين.
وقالت سامية، ممثلة الجالية السودانية، "لم يكن هذا الحدث مناسبة للاحتفال باليوم العالمي للمرأة فقط. كان أيضا فرصة لتعزيز التماسك الاجتماعي، ومساحة منعشة للمهاجرين والحضور, للهروب من الضغوط والصراعات التي يواجهونها دائماً".
وبعد المشاركة في العديد من الأنشطة الثقافية خلال اليوم، تم تمكين المهاجرين من القيام بجولة في مركز MRRM وتعريفهم بأنواع مختلفة من المساعدات التي تقدمها المنظمة الدولية للهجرة.
حضر مهاجرون آخرون جلسة توعية قدمها فريق آلية الموارد والاستجابة للمهاجرين كجزء من حملة #InformedMigrant، التي سلطت الضوء على المخاطر التي قد يتعرض لها المهاجرون أثناء رحلاتهم.
وشاركت منظمة Hand Made – صنع في بيتي، وهي منظمة غير حكومية محلية أسستها نساء من أجل المرأة، في هذا الحدث من خلال تقديم الملابس التقليدية والمأكولات والمشروبات الاحتفالية؛ كلها من صنع الشركات الناشئة التي تديرها النساء الليبيات.
يهدف مشروع MRRM في طرابلس إلى توفير الموارد الفورية والمساعدة لجميع المهاجرين المقيمين في المناطق المدينة و ضواحيها.
